This event sounds like a blast.
Can someone who was there last year share with us first timers what we can expect?

Lots of people, carnival rides, lots more people, and kayaks in the pool between splashes. It was a good event last year and just beautiful down on the river.

Aro helping with the kayak demo in between Splashes...

Like Beth said, the event was lots of fun last year. It was VERY hot, though. We were able to park right next to the pool... but I highly doubt that will be possible this year if the turn out is greater (which it likely will be with it now being a UKC event).

I didn't know Aro helped out with a kayak demo. That must have been done before we got there. He looks a lot more at home than Rajah did. Here's Rajah:

And don't forget, if we get the same location, you can get some great photos with Detroit in the background:

looks like a great location with the Ren Cen in the background, was there a place to set up EZ-ups?

I'm so jealous. I will be in DC that week for a work conference. Oh so Sad

I am obsessed with the Ren Cen. One weekend my ex and I just stayed in it just b/c I loved it. Waking up and looking down at some morning fog is nuts. Definitely recommend it sometime if you want to feel like your high rolling. Sweet! We watched fireworks in Comerica from the bar on the top floor. Looking down on fireworks is also different yet pretty cool.

I stayed in the Ren Cen for a conference on the 50 something floor I think, looking to the north. you could see almost to Birmingham, up Woodward the Detroit casino - it was cool.
It was really nice as I wasn't paying for it Ultimate Air Elation

Yup, there was room for EZ-ups... but not a TON of them. last year the event was fairly good size, but just not gi-normormous like Imlay or TC. There should be plenty of room... we just may have to park elsewhere (rather than right by the pool) this year if we get more people than before.

I am so glad someone mentioned this event, I ALMOST MISSED THIS ONE TOO! We are registered, YEA! This event is practically in my back yard! Should be fun. It was last year. We could share easy-ups to conserve space. Just a thought.

We are planning on attending this event this year also. We're looking forward to it. It will be our first event since Novi. The Detroit fireworks are suppose to be on Monday the 23rd last day of the event. I know Monday is demos only, no competition. Is anyone else planning on staying for the fireworks? We were thinking about it but I wonder if that area will be open that late and if we can see the fireworks from there. I'm also wondering if it's safe to keep Brew with us for the fireworks. Any thoughts on that? Brew has no problem with fireworks , thankfully loud noises don't bother him. I'm thinking of everyone jumping at Premier. I wish we could have attended this year but it just wasn't possible this year. Maybe next year! Have a great weekend everyone! Take care,

How is it going to be for parking during the day on Friday? We may not be able to make it until just before the first splash on Friday and I want to know if we will be able to park near the pool or if I will have to schlep all our stuff half way across town. We will also have Leo with us so everyone can fill up on puppy kisses for the weekend.

We are planning to come BUT now we can't get there until the last splash on Saturday. There has been a death in my family so we have a funeral to attend in the AM. I wish I could get out of it (I hate funerals and have been to MORE than my share) but I really need to be there, when my parents died it was my Aunt who was there for my sister and I so I need to be there for her.

This may be Teddi's last event until September. She has been having right front limping problems. The vet said 8 weeks NO activity. We are doing this weekend and canceling everything else Oh so Sad It is a mystery lameness hopefully this will clear it up once and for all. I was hopeful to complete her title this weekend. Oh well.

The jump area is just like last year except limited parking is available close to venue. You can drop off dogs, kennels and people close to pool. We have a 40x40 tent so you don't have to bring your tents unless you want to. We are off of Rivard and Atwater streets right on the river just East of the Ren Cen. There is a large parking lot just across the street from pool. Take Jefferson when you exit from I-375 go East and turn right on Rivard .

Hey is 375 still under construction/closed? I haven't been into the city in a while, but I thought it was all messed up downtown. I know the area around the Ambassador Bridge is closed and a real mess but I can't remember if 375 area is still clogged. Anyone who has been there can let us know.

We were hoping to jump this weekend also. Sadly we have to cancel. One of our kitties has a very aggrisive cancer and she needed to go to the vet on Monday and have a checkup and blood work done. There went the jump fees!!!! It's OK though hopefully our spot will be taken by someone with a far jumping pup, Brew just doesn't seem that driven. I also haven't been able to work him much because I've been working full time and going to see my 91 year old Mom every day who is in a nursing home due to strokes. We're hoping to come on Monday for the pratice jumps. That's what I'm really looking forward to just to see if Brew gets his spunk back! We're still hoping to get to Shari's but we're going to see about that one also. Good thing is my Hubby is off next week so it will be some quality time at the lake with Brew. We'll be thinking of everyone. Jump far and have a great time!!!!

I found the answer to my question on the AAA Michigan website. It looks like I-75 is open to I-375 and downtown. I hate going to the city when there is construction so maybe my blood pressure will be lower when we get there tomorrow morning. Team Rocketdog plans to be there tomorrow at around 11:30-12PM.
