I never heard anything official but I just assumed this would be the Woods-and-Water event again just like last year. But that could just be me assuming when I saw Imlay City on the schedule.

I think there was talk about making the Cherry Fest event the UAG this year- maybe not. I guess the goal is to make the UAG a little less crazy- they were so well attended last year that we ended up jumping way late into the day (even jumped under the lights one day).

Having them at the Cherry Fest won't make them less attended, that was one of the worst for numbers, and it also closed in something like 2 hours. That won't give title holders much chance to enter.

Also I would think the nationals would be at the END of the jumping season, not the middle. It would raise the question again, what titles do the jumps after the nationals count towards???

One way might to be to make them ONLY open to those who have titles already, and not allow qualifying at the event.

and maybe make them their own event??

It's UAD's version of Nationals for other dog sports. Usually (at least all that I know of) dog sports require that teams prequalify in order to attend their Nationals (they are treated like final finals in a way). Usually Nationals are a separate event.

At least years event it was supposed to be open for titled dogs only with a last chance qualifier on Friday for dogs that didn't have titles. Well, there was a bit of confusion, some rule changes and in the end everyone was allowed to try to get in on Friday and Saturday. It was a very large crowd, and had some huge jumping dogs. But in the end it couldn't really be called a Nationals type event. The plan was to have something in place this year to fix what went wrong last year. It was a blast (it was Team Rocketdog's first actual UAD event). We were going to try to get in on friday for the finals under the original rules. Woods and Water is a great event even if it's not the Ultimate Air Games this year. There were a couple future dock divers purchased from the many breeders there.

Woods n Water was not a good venue for UAG. Mainly because the year before so many people jumped that don't normally jump and many had the same plans this last year. I think a lot of outdoorsy type people that really use their dogs more for hunt purposes had planned on jumping their dogs. So it ended up really just being like a regular event. My understanding last year was like Jason's, that there would be something different in place this year. However, ultimately, I guess we are all just speculating as we would need to hear from Milt what his plans are.

Woods and Water will be our UAD Games. Dogs must have titles to jump in the finals which will be on Sunday. You will not be able to get a title that weekend and jump in the finals on Sunday. Titles must be completed before the Woods and Water festival. We will debut our new game for 2009 at this event! MILT

Rocky is ready this year. We just need to see if we can get him a master title too now. With a little lift off the end I think we can do it. Can't wait for UAG this year. It was a lot of fun last year. Maybe I can talk Rockysmom into letting ne get a future jumper there, like Triton.

I wouldn't think so. A title on any dock should be enough. It would be great if you could make it up Bob. Us yellow dog teams have to stick together. It was a lot of fun last year. I will have to see how many yuppies I can convince that Newman is a designer breed again. I called him a Newferdor last year and had people actually tell me they had heard of it. Lots of people, lots of dogs, and lots of fun. Definately worth the trip if you can make it.

Imlay City, Michigan....kind of near Flint. It will be in September, and I believe all the rules and such have yet to be finalized.

Yeah and I'm going to really have to start prioritizing my sports! I just found out I have a flyball tournament the same weekend as an event in Missouri right around the corner from where my family lives. I could have had a free hotel stay! LOL! I'll watch for the September date...but I think that may be the same weekend as the Disc Dog World Finals...

Well... you never know with that event. For the first couple years UAD was there, it was HORRIBLY hot out. Then, after that, it seems to want to get colder and colder... Last year wasn't too bad (pretty decent, actually) but the year before was dang near frigid! It also rained a lot. I remember everyone kept running over to the hunting booths, buying extra clothes! (mostly the waterproof pants they were selling)

So, with this event, come prepared for anything... unless the weather man seems REALLY certain on the forecast! The MI weather motto is "if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes and it is likely to change!"

We rarely have any real snow in Sept. October is another thing, but we really don't get snow in MI until the end of November. We aren't THAT far north you know.... Sure, we are closer to the north pole than you are but the polar bears don't show up until later in the winter Ultimate Air Elation . You don't want to come in February though. At Shari's event last year in October it was 80+ degrees and sunny. That was hot and muggy. It's a good thing MI doesn't have any mosquitoes Oops! . Just plan for cool weather and a good possibility of rain and wind. Worst case is you will have to squat with one of us that have an EZ-up with sides to keep the water and wind out. I'm sure someone will let you in.

Weather after early Sept is pretty much a crap shoot in Mich, but regardless of the weather it will be a lot of fun. there are a lot of things to do and look at. they have field dog seminars all weekend and huge crowds for the jumps.
There will be plenty of EZ-Ups, so if it rains you can find shelter.
Look forward to seeing you.

I remember Imlay maybe two years ago (either '06 or '07) when it downpoured the ENTIRE time. Talk about a sloppy mess! But the UA games sound like a blast....hopefully I can get out and title both of the muttlies. Ultimate Air Elation
