I just bought a Canon XTi. I really like it so far. The only thing I would like is to be able to go to 3200 ISO for these indoor events. But I have worked around that with the 50mm 1.8 lens. I just sacrifice depth of field. So, as long as I have it focused right things come out great.

You have much better luck with the 1.8 than I ever have. Are you using autofocus or focusing on the middle of the pool and just moving with the subject?

I focus to the middle of the dock edge manually and move with the subject. That is why I get varying results with the dark colored dogs. I either get them or I don't.

About the only good shots I got of Rock were at UV. Most of the other jumping shots he jumped right out of frame. He seemed to go straight up. I was too close for that. I have a bunch with his head cut off...

I really don't know what I am doing when it comes to these pictures but I think I got it resized. Anyway, if this shows up it is my new favorite picture of Wrigley. It was taken by the pro that was at the event. So this is not for the photo competition but I thought it would be a good place to post it. Here goes...

That picture of Wrigley can be in the contest...there just wouldn't be a prize for the photographer unless she decides to bring her pup to a competition some time.

This is going to be a real tough one to narrow down to five to choose from just based on what is posted so far. I know Eric has some great ones as always to post. I would be embarrased to post my blury ones. Snickering

I guess I need to look at getting a Rebel XTi. I have wanted one for a long time so maybe it will happen.

I thought I had some good pics of Wrigley but I think he was one of the dark colored dogs I had trouble getting in focus just right. I have a couple but they are a tad blurry. Rock was another one that was hard to get with my shallow depth of field. I will get them next time...

I used this photo contest as an excuse to get a new SLR. SO, I bought a $600 camera to try to save $15 on splash fees... Made sense in my head when I bought the camera, but when I type it out, it's looking more like I just wanted to get a new camera.

I seem to have that problem a lot too. It sounds right in my head until I put it to paper/computer.

No you are saving in the long run...The $600 you spent on the camera to save $15.00 on the splashes was well spent because if you didnt spend it. I bet Mrs Rocketdog would have ear marked it for new cabinants to go with the new kitchen floor. and we all know you cant get those cabinants and floors done for $600

Toby Keith was one of the first dogs I ever saw compete. I really like him. I actually got to jump his sister Bailey Lynn at the Indy event last year in a demo. I was so happy to jump a dog that was actually going to do it and not stop at the end of the dock. Ultimate Air Elation
