Metro Detroit Pet Expo Empty Metro Detroit Pet Expo

Post by Kona Fri Nov 05, 2010 12:41 am

Hello,
I've never been to an event before and was considering coming out to this one. I don't see anything posted here about people going or hotels or anything like that. Is it still on? Can I register at the event when I get there, or is it better to pre-register?
Is there a certain door or area that we should park to get our dog crates and stuff in?

Thanks!

Does anyone know what crating space will be like? We didn't jump at the Outdoorama last year but since it's the same venue I am hoping UAD will have more space then they did when we stopped by to check things out. Oh so Sad I'd hate to bring my "screamin' deamon" and then have to suffer fellow UAD'ers to his incessant hysteria. I can't help that he LOVES to jump. Sweet!

Any info appreciated.

The crating area is typically very small and cramped. The venue is very strict about barking dogs.

Usually Brian/Milt don't know much about the crating space, doors to enter, etc until they get there to set up. Usually you can register on site but the indoor events have filled up pretty fast in the past since we don't have as much time and/or space so I would recommend registering in advance on-line.

Well ... he doesn't really BARK ... HE SCREAMS! Even covering him doesn't always help which is why I'm curious as to what the event is likely to be like. I was hoping some people who had been to it before could post as to the conditions. If parking is close to the door where we can go in and out we could easily crate him in the car ... Does anyone know about that? Or when we might find out, I can make a better decision as to whether we should pull out of this event or not.

We don't usually do the indoor events because he's the only one that will really jump indoors. He doesn't care. The other 2 are bothered by the noise, lights, and colder water.

Pretty sure this is a new event. Yes it's at a location we have been at before but each company sets things up different. I know the parking is always at a premium at Rock Financial so I wouldn't count on being able to crate out of the car.

You are right, Steph, about this being a new event. We don't know much til we get there to set up for the first time, especially.

Hey, good news, we are taking more dogs than I thought, so registration will be open for the entire event in a few minutes!

See you all there!

Generally in the past there has been a little more room (and noise tolerance) at the Pet Expo's versus the Outdoorama. Unloading is usually in the back of the Expo Center and you have to pay for parking.
