Hi everyone! The building will be open at 10am but we can get you in early if you come to the back of the Expo Center where vendors enter. Your name will be at back door if you have any problems tell them you are with UAD and you can get in. Parking is a problem you will have to pay this weekend. $10 for weekend pass.

I think that was the spring event. Wasn't it in like February or March? May have snow at this one too. I hear Sunday could have a dusting on the grassy areas. Global warming my butt!

It was fun. Yes, the snow was deeper than they said it was going to be. Welcome to Michigan... Rocky and Leo are passed out cold after three days of fun.

Thanks all for making my first event fun! I really enjoyed meeting you all! We are going to go do some training at Pat Currey's place and hopefully build some confidence in the Mal and Rat Terror to jump next time.

Thanks all!

I agree with Amanda. This was my first event and it was pretty fun, even though Neiko refused to jump most of the time Sweet! Ann warned me that indoor events are tough, but I didn't listen. Now I know better!

I saw him barking his head off briefly, but didn't he end up going in? I thought he was wet by the end of the night? Gorgeous boy though!!

Indoor events are very different than outdoor events. I had forgotten how LOUD they are - my barking fool Leo right behind me all weekend didn't help either. My ears were ringing Friday night. This event had lots of crating room too. At some indoor events there is VERY limited crating room and that makes it very loud. It's tough to hear what's going on and hard to have a conversation. You get used to it by the end of the event though and it seems easier. The more you do the less you notice it.

Yeah, indoor events can be more difficult for first time pups. You wouldn't think so... but time has certainly proven otherwise. Just kidding! It's also not at all uncommon for a dog to not jump at all at their first event... even if they've been involved in other sports beforehand. So, don't be discouraged. Sweet! Once the dogs figure everything out and get their confidence up with the water type and distance from the dock, etc., you end up with the opposite problem usually... trying to keep them out of the pool!

As for noise, like Jason said, it can certainly be very loud sometimes. I think dock jumping is the only sport that could give flyball a run for its money when it comes to noise level. Lol.

I also can attest (as demonstrated this weekend) that it definately takes some dogs awhile to figure the indoor thing out!

This was the first indoor event that Champ actually did jump - the first two last year he just said "No way" Snickering so I figure we're making progress!

I agree also. This was our first indoor event, and Bugz didn't want to jump. He would go in the water but from at a stand still at the end of the dock Oops! I kind of liked the set-up and atmosphere of the indoor events, but I'd be reluctant to try it again.

Count Brew in as one of the pups who doesn't like the indoor events either. I think the cold water is too much for his princely body to take! He doesn't even like to go out in the yard and get his feet wet on cold rainy days. For a sporting breed he'd rather be inside on his bed than outside. He's just one big baby! I guess though I wouldn't want to jump in the pool either knowing how cold the water is! I think the noise and lights get to him also. He did jump better this time though than in Feb. at Out Door Rama so we'll just keep plugging along and maybe one day it won't bother him as much.

Teddi is EXTREMELY sound sensitive. I wondered how she would do. Good for Teddi she did not shut down completely but she too just stopped at the end of the dock and jumped. However she did jump each time and came in 3rd in the novice finals! She completely freaked out on the dock for her first final jump. I honestly thought she would turn tail and run off the dock. She was so scared of the noise at that moment.

Not sure right now if we will do more indoor events or not. I do want to acclimate her but not sure I want to risk making her not want to jump again. Just have to figure some things out.

We had a blast. My friend Dawn's dog Gus did great. He did come home with cold tail. She is looking forward to another event.

There were a lot of dogs with cold tail. I know Merlin had it, Dakota had it, Lilly had it and Gus. That's a lot for one event.

First indoor event of the season. It "seems" they get it more at indoor events not sure why. Of course Gus gets is all the time like poor Merlin. Merlin does not seemed bothered by it though. Yesterday at agility class Gus didn't like not having his "rudder". Snickering

Nessa and I had a lot of fun this past weekend. Thank you for putting up with such a Newbie! Just kidding!

A special thank you to Rockysmom for all her help and holding Nessa for me.

It was awesome seeing the distance the your dogs are getting! I don't ever expect Nessa to jump that far, but I was happy she gained a little with her last jump!

I thought Meadow wasn't affected by the indoor event until finals. hit head However, I replayed that one over and over in my head to figure out what happened. I don't know if she was just tired from UV the previous day or from 3 days of jumping. She slipped on her first finals jump and then never recovered on the second one. Totally not like Meadow. Again, it could have been my fault, my throws were off all day and maybe I just jumped her too much. I tend to forget that just because she can jump 20 times in a row at home that the noise, excitement and all of the other things that come along with events can, and does, make them so very tired. Just when I think I'm getting things figured out something happens and it makes me examine everything all over again. Judges I will probably never figure out what happened, but I have to say I didn't see that one coming, lol.

All in all it was really fun for my first indoor event of the season. There were some really great moments and it was great to see everyone. A huge, huge thanks to everyone who was cheering on M all weekend and during vertical. That made my weekend to have so many of you supporting her. It was so hard to say good bye to my girls at the end of the weekend. :bigcry:

THANK YOU TO DEBBIE FOR MAKING SURE MY GIRLS AND MY MOM GOT HOME SAFELY! YOU ARE TRULY A GREAT FRIEND AND I SO APPRECIATE YOU! And thank you to everyone else who offered to help get them home.
