Novi Pet Expo!

Ok bear with me, I have not indoor evented in a LONG time.

Am I correct that we will get passes for entry at Novi? Do we need something special with us to get in? I remember we pay for parking correct?

Also I am thinking about coming over on Friday to set up my crate and my friend Dawn's crate. Art will not be with me, opening day deer season, and I can not handle Tasmanian Teddi and a crate at the same time. Will I be able to get in ok on Friday to do this?

I am looking forward to Novi, I am interested to see how Teddi is indoors. She is rather sound sensitive BUT she has such a strong water drive I doubt she will be affected much.

I am checking into this. We will either have a competitor list that will give everyone passes or it will be the routine, One Handler with One Dog getting free admittance. I will post back here once I find out for certain.

Yes, everyone will have to pay for parking. This is standard at every event where there is paid parking. Even our staff has to pay to park.

Last year you could buy a weekend pass for parking that was, i think, something like $10.00 for all three days. I think it was $5.00 per day otherwise.

Isn't there a splash on Friday @ 6 anyway?

Hi all!

I am new to this sport. I am owned by several dachshunds, a rat terrier, and an Alaskan Malamute. I am bringing the Mal to Novi on Saturday to try this dock diving out. She loves the water, so we will see.

How do I get the pass to get in? Where in the building will this event be located? I did preregister for both splashes on Saturday.

Typically, you have to pay to park. I'm not sure if we need to check in at the front doors of the expo to make sure we have passes (Mare's post above). Usually the UAD sign is hanging on one of the back entry doors. Different venues have different requirements and some will require passes or wristbands to get beyond that point. Maybe Milt or Maralee will post and let us know if we need to obtain passes at the front door. I will be there on Friday and can post info for people that aren't coming until Saturday. We have sent off a competitor list for our people to get passes. One year, the desk where you got the passes was on the West side of the building. The year before it was set up in the back. We just never know how it will be set up, until we are there.

Often, our people are able to slip in and out of the Dog Entrance without anyone caring. (Our dogs do need to take potty breaks.) Sometimes, there is a security guard set up at the door, checking passes, who will make those people without passes go pay at a different entrance. This too, we never know until at the event and it can change from day to day.

Hope you all have fun. We can't make it. I had planned on working the event, then Lynnie's basketball tryouts were rescheduled for this week. (She finds out if she made the team on Friday night, so it will either be a fantastic night or a really, really sad one. ) So, I was going to get someone to cover for me on Friday night... then I found out that my cousin's play, which I promised my Mom I'd take her to, is this Saturday night, not next Saturday night. So, in short, we won't be there.

This is a different event than last February. That was a fishing expo, so we shared the pool. This is a pet expo and completely different event, so we will not be sharing the pool. If it is the same setup as this same expo a few years ago, we will have plenty of crating room as we did then when it was a Splashdogs/UAD event.

Okay...one more question. I just got a TL number from UKC for my Malamute. Who do I contact to make sure her jumps this weekend are recorded for UKC purposes?

I'm so excited that it's a pet expo and not a fishing event!! Just thought I'd throw that out there......

Just make sure that the secretary gets your TL number recorded. Remember that you have 60 days to get your dog registered with UKC too, over that you will get charged more to have the points transferred.

FYI to those who will be there Friday as I can not be. I have a friend named Julie with an Aussie named Neiko, who is going to try to come for the demo. She has never jumped off a dock into a pool before, but he has jumped. If you folks see her would you please help her out? All the UAD folks are so nice I told her just walk up to someone and say "hey". I just wanted to give you a heads up you see a lost newbie.

Yes Sara he is! He was also at Frankenmuth which if I remember correctly you were at too. Glad to hear a familiar face! It's hard when you are new! She thought she would give this a try! We met on Dog.com and have gotten together and become friends.

Cool. I've met her. Tell her she can come find me, I'll be there!

Does the building open to us before 10am? I am planning on getting there around 9am but don't want to wait an hour to get in.
