Info for Curwood Festival disc competition
Greetings Mid-West disc doggers:
Curwood Festivals 24th Annual event is just around the corner and I
have been asked to give an update to those who plan to attend. First
and foremost we want to thank Hyperflite for their generosity in
helping to put on this years competition. We lost our sponsor in
early January and Peter, Jeff and the gang came through for us big
time.
The format is the same as past years with the exception of running
Distance/Accuracy and Freestyle as two independent competitions.
There will be two rounds of D/A for everyone with no eliminations in
Round 1. Trophies will be awarded for the top three places in D/A and
as well as awards for 4th, 5th & 6th places. Freestyle will consist
of one 90 second round with the top three finishers receiving prizes
and awards. Due to budget constraints there will not be an overall
Grand Champion Trophy, however plaques will be given to the Best
Novice (highest scoring novice in D/A) as well as our overall Crowd
Pleaser.
Registration begins @ 10:45 this Sunday (6/7/09) with the competition
starting promptly @ Noon. The location is the same at the Owosso
Middle School Athletic Field, 219 North Water Street, Owosso, MI
48867. Keep in mind the festival runs all weekend long and Water
Street will be closed in the 100 & 200 blocks both north and south of
M-21. Your best bet is to go M-52, 3 blocks north of M-21, over the
bridge and take Williams Street east to Water Street south and use the
lot at the school. If the lot is full, you are free to unload there
and street park or use any of the lots, north or east one block of the
school.
If you will be in town Saturday, we are holding our second annual
micro-brew tasting from noon until 5, featuring 15 of Michigan’s
finest Micro-Breweries. Contact me personally for a special
“disc-dogger discounted ticket” to that event. A complete festival
schedule can be found at http://curwoodfestival.com/events.htm
We look forward to seeing all our Mid-West teams who can make the trip
and enjoy the camaraderie that this 24 year old event has formed.
