Nice pics. Glad to see so many other UADers giving their dogs some versatility in sports! It looks like everyone who tried it did well and enjoyed themselves.

Hi Kel,
I can't tell for sure but that looks like our granddaughter Elizabeth on the cart. She had so much fun riding the cart while the pups were pulling. She loves to come to the jumps to see her adopted litter mate jump into the water! I have to laugh, Liz was born in May, Brew was born in Nov and we have a cat we adopted that was born in Jan. All three grew up together and it's like they formed their own little pack! It's too funny to watch them all interact togeather. A little scary too! You never know what they are all plotting together! I think Liz in a junior handler in the making! Kel you are so right too about the pups enjoying themselves. Brew really seemed to enjoy pulling. I thought he might really balk at pulling the cart but he didn't seem to mind it much at all. We are thinking of getting a harness and cart and keeping up with pulling. I don't know if we'll ever compete in weight pulling but even pulling a cart around the yard would help strenghthen Brew for dock jumping. Thanks too Kel for posting the web sites for harnesses ect.... We're looking into getting a harness. Have a great day,

For those living in SE Michigan, K9 Specialties in Warren (586-939-5960) sells Beth Edge's basic carting and sledding harnesses in a few colors and sizes. Bring in your dog and talk with the owner, Claude, for help with a proper fit.
There are all kinds of creative (and relatively cheap) ways to see if your dog would like pulling with or without shafts. You can PM Kel or me (her mom, for those who don't know) for some suggestions.

Re: Weightpull for beginners,Any interest??
We got out harness from K9 Specialties. Claude was sorta helpfull (I think we caught him on an off day) and the price wasn't bad at all. We were able to try out a couple different sizes on Rocky in the store and that made it much easier to get the right size for him.

My schedule:
I race every weekend through Feb 15.
Feb 21-22= race weekend....though it's a backup date, so it's possible that I'll be free, but doubtful. More than likely I WILL be racing.
Fed 28-March 1 Is an OPEN weekend for me. Totally free. WP would be a perfect way to spend my Saturday!
March 7-8 = race weekend.....if we still have snow.

Re: Weightpull for beginners,Any interest??
The main thing to consider and have right is that the center point of the Y on the front of the harness should fall directly over the dog's breast bone. Too high and you will choke them, too low and it interferes with their movement and stride. If my mom happens to be making a trip there the same time as others, I'm sure she wouldn't mind helping with sizes either.
Hope all is well with the Brewster.

and it works for me, its giving me time to work on handouts and things.
Re: Weightpull for beginners,Any interest??
That sounds good to us. I was going to write tonight that either date is fine with us but March 7th is great. That will also give me time to get the harness for Brew. Do you have a suggestion for what kind of sled to get and where to get one at? I'm sure that we will need something for Brew to pratice pulling! Also Heather do you have an idea of the price for the class? Thanks so much. I'm really looking forward to learning how to work with Brew on pulling. Have a great day,
