Question for having different handlers Empty Question for having different handlers

Post by Gingers Dad Wed Jun 17, 2009 2:26 pm

I understand that Ginger can only jump once per splash . I also understand when someone else handles her and they get a further jump than when I handle her they would make the finals. My questions are in future events I totally plan on using different handlers for the fun of it Jump, jump, jump! , will those handlers get Uad titles with her ? Also if the events are UKC events will the jumps that Im not handling her count towards ukc points? I'm just curios.

Thanks for any help

Hey Bob:

I can't answer for UAD title rules, but for UKC the handler is irrelevant for recording points for titles. As to your other questions, here are the relevant UKC rules for handlers:

b. Handlers.
1) Number of handlers allowed. Teams may have more than one handler per dog.
2) Number of handlers allowed on the dock during a splash/jump. Teams are restricted to no more than two handlers on the dock per jump. One to hold the dog and the other to throw the toy. These handlers may not be reversed during a splash. The handler throwing the toy is considered the handler of record.
3) Handler changes. Handler changes are allowed at the beginning of each splash. A dog may not jump with different handlers in one splash, i.e., the dog may be entered only once per splash. However, a handler may jump multiple dogs.
4) When a dog has multiple handlers throughout the event, and qualifies for the finals, it is up to the multiple handlers to decide who jumps the dog in finals.

As far as UAD titles goes, it was explained to me that each handler(s)/dog pair is a team. If a different handler handles the dog then the scores are posted to that different handler(s)/dog team.
