It makes a difference to us because Rocky doesn't do well in a small pool (as we found out at the Homes event). If it were going to be the small pool we weren't going to jump in as many splashes. I do hope it's the big pool. He does much better when he has room to run.

I like to think of it as big pools for big fools. I'm always telling Rocky he is a fool. He's a jumping fool, swmming fool, and retrieving fool. He is also known for making big splashes and a big pool gives him more room to splash anyone too close to the pool. We are hoping he will do better in the big pool than he did at Homes. He was having a lot of trouble with the short dock. I was hoping he would correct it himself, but he kept studdering and even hesitated a couple times. We will see how it goes in the big pool. The Novi event will dictate whether we take him to GR or not.

The GR event will have Lake Ultimate. Lake Ultimate is a 110,000 gallon pool that is about 100' long?? It's the biggest pool you'll probably ever jump your dog in.

It's not the size of the pool at GR but how Rocky does at Novi. If he is not into it like it seemed he was at Homes then I'm not going to drag him across the state to jump poorly again. I would take it as a sign that I need a puppy to train... Hint, hint.... Maybe the puppy would get him back into the right mood. We will see at Novi. I can't believe for a minute that my swimming fool is losing interest in jumping into a pool. You have seen my avatar, he loves to be in the water. I think he was just frustrated with the short dock/pool. In the videos you can see he is having trouble with his steps. The long dock will get him over that pretty fast I hope.

Hey Jason,

How many indoor events has Rocky done? I know some dogs aren't crazy about the colder water. Also slows a lot of them down some. If it's ever a really cold or short dock event, I don't bother worrying about/expecting them to jump as big as usual. My boys can never get up to speed on the short dock. It completely favors the shorter bodied and/or legged dogs.

That was Rocky's first indoor jump, so that may have been some of it too. I don't think water temperature is an issue for him. He swims up north and breaks ice to wallow in frozen puddles. He was laying all spread out in the snow yesterday.

He is like your guys - slow on a short dock. There just isn't enough room for him to get up to speed.
