To bad no one got any pictures from this event. There could have been some awesome ones. Someone is getting a new camera for Christmas so maybe next time there will be pictures.

I only got a couple pics of my on dogs. The lighting didn't work with us and they didn't come out really good. I had to really lighten and try to enhance them in order to get anything decent to show up. I'm wondering if we'd have used a flash if they would have been better. I just didn't want to distract the dogs anymore then they already were since this was their first indoor event and Flyball (their FAVORITE!) was going on right next door.

Using a flash at an indoor event with a point and shoot camera will give varying results. Most are not powerful enough to reach out to the middle of the pool from where most people stand during events. The flash will help for sure but depending on the location, ambient light, reflection of the area, and your camera it may or not really help the picture. Plus, it could distract the dogs. I bought a specific lens for my SLR for use at indoor events. I rented another for the last event and I was pretty happy with how the pics came out. I don't use a flash so I have to have a very fast lens (low f range). I still have trouble with the dark colored dogs. The lighter colored dogs will come out better since the camera has more to focus on. With dark colored dogs the camera can get fooled and will pic something in the background to focus on.

Yes, I am spoiled by my Mom. However, I was raised with values and was taught to work hard. I don't take anything that she does for me for granted (even though I may not always tell her how much I appreciate her). love5 I don't expect anything and I think that makes a huge difference. I didn't always get everything I wanted and I would say that I am more spoiled as an adult. I used to tell my parents that I was their slave child because I had to mow the lawn, rake leaves, stack wood, do dishes, clean the house, get dinner started in the summer when my Mom worked. Those were good things because they taught me to work hard. My parents were very strict too (I had the earliest curfew of all my friends, lol) So, all in all, I think that we can be a little spoiled as long as we respect others, are generous, kind to others and never expect things. AND, maybe I'm not spoiled, maybe my Mom is just a giving person

Jim, I have had the pleasure of meeting your daughter. She definitely doesn't act spoiled and she is a very nice girl. Smart too!!!

I've got a Canon Rebel XTI digital SLR camera. I think I need a diiferent lens for indoor. I am still new to it and learning ... I've only had it 9 months Ultimate Air Elation. I have lots of indoor events that I like to shoot and most don't allow for a flash. I'll have to look into getting a new lens for indoor.

That's the same camera Jason (rocketdog) has! He has gotten really good at getting awesome shots! I'm getting the XSI for Christmas and I'm anxious to use it.

For indoor events with that camera you need a lens that will open up to at least 2.0. You can find a 50mm lens that will open up to f1.8 that works great for indoor events. You will have to turn up your ISO to 1600 to get it there but you will get good pics. I got my 50mm lens off ebay for about 70% of the cost of buying a new one.

I have the Rebel digital and a 1.8 - 50mm lens and I agree with Jason, it does work great. I just never have enough free time at events to use it :-(
