Oyster Festival, LI, Oct 18-19 - Exciting News & Info

Ultimate Air Dogs Presented by Optimum will be competing at the
25th Anniversary Oyster Festival, Oyster Bay, LI, NY.... next weekend, Saturday & Sunday, October 18 and October 19 on the Waterfront at Theodore Roosevelt Park. This is a UKC sanctioned event, so UKC titles can be achieved. Although, your dog/s do NOT have to be UKC registered to compete.
Anne Marie Lucas from Animal Planet's Animal Precinct: NY will be coming on Saturday afternoon. She will be appearing at the Optimum booth and will be available for photo’s and autographs. She will also address the crowd about animal cruelty and such prior to Optimum’s raffle of a 42” LCD TV. She will also pull the winning ticket, pool side.
Travel Channel will be at the Festival filming all day Saturday!! Among other local TV Stations.

**Only pre registered competing dogs will be allowed to enter the Festival. Emails will go out soon with entrance information and a competitor entrance pass.

Barb- GREATLY looking forward to this event, and I'm certain Pre is too!
Curious, will the parking situation be similar to that of the Freeport Water Fest? I'm just curious if working out of the car could be an option? Or if the parking was all streetside and a decent trek back and forth.

We would come but I am thinking that it may be to cold for the Gumpster. We had unusually warm weaher this weekend so it's a pretty much sure that if we plan to go it will be cold.. lol..

Hi Jen,
The competitor's will be able to drive in and unload, then go park. There's no parking within the Oyster Festival. Most of the competitors will be arriving before the Festival opens, so I don't foresee a parking problem. There's Street parking and shuttles. More info in competitor emails.
Yes, I'm excited too! Look forward to seeing you and PRE. This is a real nice event, lots and lots of food! The Oyster Festival is sooo excited about us being there.
Competitor emails will go out tomorrow, Monday with all needed info. Weather as of now, right at the average.... 60's and

Oyster Festival -- Can we stay up there? the directions say competitors can park within the the fesitval but will not be able to leave until the festival is over. Beekman Beach - we were hoping to stay and pitch a tent not sure if we can do this here? we have a 3hr ride and were hoping not to leave the site for the weekend

Debbie,
I sent you an email on the 14th... the answer would be yes, you can park your RV at Beekman Beach parking lot. You will not be able to exit until the close of the Festival, both Saturday and Sunday.

Parking Info: Arrive early, if possible to unload. Once the Festival begins at 11 am, teams will have to unload at the entrance gate and will not be able to drive up to the site and unload. The parking is real tough in this area. Teams may want to consider using the shuttle service, if you're unable to find parking:

If you choose to pull in and park at Beekman Beach (within the Festival) you will not be able to get your vehicle out through the crowds until the close of the Festival each night-Sat & Sun. Keep in mind there is a fireworks show on Saturday evening.
Take the good with the bad...... The better news is..... Expect large crowds of over 200,000 + enjoying the Ultimate Air Dogs

Thanks to everyone for an awesome weekend! And thanks for all the support with PRE!! He seems to be getting comfortable with jumping off the dock again, and not thinking twice about it!
The food was great, and it was cool to eat Lobster with fellow dock doggers!! :-)
