It rained the entire day... so I'm not sure how well any possible pics may have come out. I saw some of the disc group taking pics/video... not sure if anyone else did? huh?

We ended up not going. It was a freaking monsoon all day! I was bummed because it sounded like such a great event. How was the turnout Kel?

It was decent, considering the weather. Apparently, they are already thinking about plans for another event next year. The "staff" and club members all said the "silver lining" in the rain clouds is that they got to practice with fewer people first... so that next year will go smoothly with added crowds.

RNR ended up just doing some basic demos, but no real shows... there was just too much rain to pull out all the equipment. Pam is going to try to convince the Novi staff to let the team raise money for Max at the Novi Pet Expo. Sweet!

The Dog Sports group put on some nice demos, the conformation show was still held, disc went great, weight pull was just set up as a "try it" area with an empty cart (ground was too uneven and wet for any major weight to be added), terrier racing was unfortunately canceled, dock jumping of course went on Just kidding!, a small agility course was set up for run throughs and a demo... there was a great raffle and silent auction, along with food... I think that was the majority of it.

One of the 4-Hers I talked with at UAG came out with his Springer to give dock jumping a try and they seemed to have a great time. Some of the RNR members had their dogs tested for protection work, and I saw a lot of other people bouncing from one sport area to another... so that aspect of the event seems to have been a success.

I also don't think I've ever seen the pool more full than it was yesterday! Lol.

That is great to hear that they are planning for next year. We really wanted to go since it was for a good cause but with it raining so hard I just didn't want to spend all day soaked to the bone with three wet dogs. With Newman trying to get over a skin yeast infection it wasn't a good idea to have him be wet all day. I wanted to try Newman with weight pulling and Rocky was going to do dock diving, disc, and possibly weight pull so he was going to be busy. Leo was just going to look cute...

And we all know that Leo aces that with very little effort! (Can't help it- I really love pyrs.)
Kind of wish someone had managed a few pics, though. Never saw so many dog people looking sooo completely covered in wet, wet mud. We would have made a great ad for foul weather gear.

Well, some of the RNR members did take pics of one of the team after he
helped push the van and trailer out of the mud (lots of vehicles got
stuck!). His face and front half were quite mud spattered.
Just kidding!

I think even though the rain was horrible, I still had fun! Thom really put together a nice event and I hope they do it again. Got to try Oskar at conformation and he took Best in Show which was pretty cool! I also got to try him on birds and we might have to start learning that next--I've never seen him so 'on'. I think it's a really great event to show the public what they can do with their dogs, and really cool that they can try everything out.
