I have worked hard at getting Bo over his gunshyness issue and this is my last chance to get his TAN because he will be 3 at the end of the month. I trained him last weekend and yesterday and the only reaction to the gun he had was to chase the birds harder expecting them to drop (I used a starter pistol like we do for the test) I am excited to let people see the improvemant we made. I actually am up to using a .410 over him and he has been doing good.....Wish me luck. I am debating even giving him some melatonin just to be safe but I havent used that on him in a long time.

TAN stand for Natural Ablilty Test....Not sure why the europeans and the UKC adopted it TAN instead of NAT.

Good Luck,

UKC uses 12 guage blanks, which would be about the same as a staters pistol I would think. Give the pup some words of encourgement from us and let us know the results.

Thanks will do actually for the TAN it will be a starter pistol. This is the Natural ability test. They use a cap gun or starter pistol from what I have been told. I am excited I have worked hard to get him to this point. The pointing and everything was easy just the gunfire issue has been tough.

Thanks everyone I am real excited I even took yesterday off work to meet with my trainer and try him on some new fields. Make sure he hadnt equated gunfire is only ok on the training fields. Funny how hard it is to get a dog over a fear like that. But he has made leaps and bounds. Either way he is my buddy but I wanted a hunting dog when I got him lol

Thanks everyone...If the paw doesnt get better I will be scratching....I have one of those soft breeds...He takes any little injury for all its worth lol. I think milt hit it right V's are wimps. I am letting him rest today and will make a descion in the am.
