I posted in this section about fundraising for this huge undertaking https://ultimateair.forumotion.com/rescues-f4/my-newest-fosterbrisket-5-year-old-black-male-t1892.htm . We are still in need of funding. I raised about $300 and his first bill from dermatology was $385 Golly Gee! . So if anyone is interested please follow the link on that post or I will post it again at the bottom of this update. Even if it is only $5 it adds up quickly. Now for the update and what we are looking at...

Brisket went to dermatology on Monday and was skin tested. He is allergic to A LOT! He came up very allergic to a few local trees (pine trees for crying out loud), several local grasses and weeds, and several molds. He is VERY allergic to dust and dust mites. He is also reactive to cats, fleas, mosquitos, ants and roaches! He has been started on Cyclosporine for itching and Ketoconazole to upregulate the Cyclosporine in hopes to keep his itching and secondary infections to a minimum. I must have done something right because he had NO secondary infections, bacteria or yeast, on his paws or in his ears YAY! So now I need to order his serum which is an additional $200 plus supplies and then next month he will need more cyclosporine/ketoconazole and a follow up visit. The cyclosporine alone is $72 for the generic and if that doesn't work I will need to switch to atopica which is $95 a month and his follow up is $58. SO I am looking at another approx $375 to get him started on shots and through this month and upwards of $500 if I need to get him through next month Golly Gee! .

I can tell you that his personality is really coming out now that he is off the prednisone/benedryl. He is a doll and can be such a ham. You can tell he feels better for the most part now that he is not infected and heavily medicated but I do have to harass him about his itching. He has lost 10 pounds and has some muscle now. He has been on Taste of the Wild Pacific Salmon and doing well and I add extra salmon oil and apple cider vinegar. His coat still isn't right but it is MUCH improved. I wish you all could meet him as you would all fall in love. He touches everyone he meets wth his story and the fact that he still just loves life. A fun fact about him...he doesn't appear to have much retrieving drive that was until I took him to a fresh water pond. The boy retrieved for TWO HOURS straight. He brough back anything and everything we threw until he couldn't pull himself up the bank anymore! He would even swim to the middle of the pond! I wish we had a dd event soon cause I would bring him to see what he could do. The extra cute part was his fat little butt was it's own personal floatation device Snickering !

LRROF is a non-profit organization and donations are tax deductable. Below are links to the page I started for him as well as the direct link to LRROF donation page if anyone can help us out. Thanks for reading up on this awesome labby!
