Some pics...

A few people have asked about pics from this past weekend's competition down here in VA. So, here are a few (of many). I don't have the win pics to post, unfortunately, as I don't have a scanner down here in VA like I did back in MI. So, here are some of the digital pics I'm ordering. Aro Q'd both days in obedience with a 3rd on Sat and a 1st on Sun. Jack Tar took 1st and Most Weight Pulled both days for wpull. Baako placed well in Group both days and then also took a RBIMBS, 2nd (to Jack) in wpull both days, and Total Dog Award both days.

Awesome pictures. Your boys are such hard workers! I love how dark Jack is....but then again, I am slightly partial to black dogs
How much did they pull? Oh, and I've been wondering for a while, how much do they weigh?

That weekend Jack's top pull was over 2,200 lbs. That isn't his best, however. He could have easily went higher, but he had already won MWP with one weight under that, so I just had him pull one more time and stopped there. He pulled straight through, no fouls or anything, for each pull the whole weekend long. He normally weighs about 96 lbs, but has been weighing in a few lbs more the last two pulls.
Baako's best pull for the weekend was around 1900 lbs. Not his best, either... but I figured I would stop him there (took a foul with him by going ahead and touching him to encourage him along). He normally weighs about 94 lbs.
I can't wait to get them on the big cart back in MI and on the rails setup at Pat's place! The bigger carts and rails are generally easier... so I think they're going to really get some big weights back home in MI again.

Wow I had no idea they weighed that much....if I had to guess, I would have said like 70lbs.

Haha... go figure. You're the first person who has ever guessed low (especially *that* low). I think you're too used to your Sibe's weights. Lol.
Everyone else always thinks they weigh at least (or even well over) 100 lbs... especially Aro, who is actually lighter than Jack and Baako (although Scot is lightest). Yes, they're big boys, but not that big.
But, yeah, all the male GSDs Baako has shown against (conformation) are all his height or taller and all of them weigh less than him (the GSD people usually all crate together and chat). Most are in the 70s or 80s. My boys just have a lot more bone substance and muscle, I guess.

Haha yeah....I'm used to seeing a dog's coat, subtracting in my head, and guessing WAY lower than what I would assume Your boys don't have much of a coat (at least the kind of coat I'm used to) so my math was off! My male, Reb, looks roughly the size of Baako, but he's only mid #70's....MUST SUBTRACT THE COAT!!! 
Like you said, their bone structure is also very different.....guess I'll stick to sibes....

Yup , those boys definitely have to launch a lot more weight than a good percentage of the other dock jumpers.
Baako has always been built like a brick (even has muscles you can feel on top of his head!). Jack Tar, until he started doing this pulling, has had a more lean build. Now you can feel he is building noticeably beefier shoulders. And I thought it was a major job holding him back on the dock before! Ah well, now it's mostly Justin's problem
Even though Baako has the build for heavy pulling, he hasn't developed the self confidence that he needs to do his best. He'll stand there and bark before he puts his head down and pulls (they were teasing Kel and calling them up as Jack and Barko, or as Jack Tar and Bark Tar
). Jack is amazing though- he decides if his mama says it is fun and she wants him to try- then by all that is holy in a dog's world, he is going to do it!

Ya- poor people were covering their ears as soon as Baako entered the shoot because sound reverberated so much in the pulling area.
Oops almost forgot Aro- he doesn't weight pull- just pulling the training carts and the racing rig, but he always shows the others what it means to have lots of heart. My furry grandson will even deliberately hide an injury so that he might be allowed to keep going (crazed GSD refuses to flinch when you palpitate an area you know is injured!)

I know! Who would have thought the GSD with the name (Bakchos) that means "to shout" would be a loud mouth? Lol. Not that my other boys are much quieter...
We miss you and your pups, too, Heather! I'm definitely going to be driving back up for some of the pulls at Pat's place (and/or K9 Specialties). We're also coming up for some UKC pulls, the next one we're doing is a wheels pull in March.

Great pics kel. And wonderful job. I heard from another person how much barking your boys did that weekend with weight pull. I defended you though. No one is allowed to talk bad about Kel or her wonderful dogs! LOL :-)

Lol. Thanks, Beth. Jack actually didn't bark at all... it was all Baako. But, you know him, if he's excited at all, he's making noise.
